Enjoy a 2 1/2-hour excursion through the Connecticut River Valley, named one of the "top 40 last great places" by The Nature Conservancy, aboard a restored 1920's train pulled by a coal-fired, steam locomotive. Passengers transfer to a multi-deck riverboat in Deep River for an hour's ride to East Haddam and back, then train back to Essex.

Narration's on train and boat tell of the history, flora and fauna of the area. Bar service is offered on the optional open car and a parlor car. Snacks and drinks are also available on the boat.

For a special treat, ride the Essex Clipper Dinner Train.
